Custom Home Teeth Whitening Trays
Popular brands include NiteWhite and Opalescence which provide custom-fit trays hold the concentrated teeth whitening gel on the teeth. You can sleep with them in to increase the exposure time. Touch-ups may be required every 6-12 months to maintain your teeth whitening.
Laser Teeth Whitening
Laser teeth whitening is also called in-office teeth whitening, since it must be done inside a dental office. At Royal York Dental, we use the Sapphire System. Using a combination of the laser whitening with the custom trays may also be recommended for our patients.

It is recommended that the take-home system with the customized trays be used for a few weeks. We also offer our in-office laser-assisted whitening that happens in just a few appointments.
Current whitening products are created with desensitizers so patients may not experience as much sensitivity. There might be a few days after treatment where patients experience sensitivity. The whitening systems we use are non-invasive, and comfortable for patient use.
The gel used for teeth whitening is non-toxic, non-allergenic, and very safe to use. It's generally comprised of hydrogen peroxide.

What are some tips for routine maintenance?
After enjoying that cup of coffee, just rinse your mouth with water to maintain your teeth whitening. It is also recommended that you avoid food or beverages that may stain your teeth during that time. We recommend that you rinse your mouth immediately after any staining beverages such as coffee, tea or red wine.
